Surgical Procedures

All surgery is performed in an isolated sterile suite using isoflurane and sevoflurane anesthesia. The patient is carefully monitored by a technician using pulse and respiratory monitors or a pulse oximeter.

We perform a full range of surgical services from routine spays and neuters to more complicated soft tissue and orthopedic procedures, such as anterior cruciate repair procedures. We also maintain a close relationship with a number of board-certified surgeons locally and at the regional teaching hospitals at North Carolina State and Virginia Tech.

All patients are prepared for surgery in our surgical prep area adjoining the surgical operatory. This space is set aside to prepare our patients for surgery, as well as to watch them carefully while they recover from surgery and anesthesia. The surgeon scrubs at the surgical sink and dresses in a sterile surgical gown, mask, cap, and gloves.
