Christina began her career at Beach Pet Hospital in 2006 and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2008 and Certified Veterinary Practice Manager in 2013. She is a member of the Virginia Association of Veterinary Technicians, the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association, the American Association of Feline Practitioners, the International Association of Canine Professionals and the AKC Canine Good Citizen Educator. Christina has also helped Beach Pet earn their Fear Free Veterinary Visit certification and Feline Friendly Veterinary Practice certification.
Her family includes her two sons Steven and Trevor, and their pets, Tank the rottweiler, Aria the rottweiler puppy, Buck the french bulldog, and Rosie the boa constrictor. Christina also likes to donate her time and talents to local wildlife rescue. Outside of Beach Pet Hospital, she enjoys boating, watching her oldest son race monster trucks and watching her youngest son race mud trucks. She is also a dedicated volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate with the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
Gemma is one of our most senior Licensed Veterinary Technicians, is a native of Virginia Beach and a graduate of the veterinary technology program at Blue Ridge Community College. She is a member of the Virginia Association of Veterinary Technicians and the American Society of Veterinary Dental Technicians. She has been with Beach Pet Hospital since July 1997, and her favorite part about being a technician is performing dental radiographs and cleanings. Gemma has countless duties here at Beach Pet, one being in charge of inventory and ordering all products. Gemma is also a phenomenal mentor for students and technicians in training because she has a talent for teaching with her soft-spoken voice and constructional criticism. Her dog children include Stella, Ruby, and Charlotte, and one fabulous cat named Tito! Gemma enjoys scuba diving and watching her daughter play volleyball.
Crystal is a Virginia Beach native who graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at Blue Ridge Community College in 1999 and has been employed at Beach Pet Hospital since 2001. She is a member of the American Association of Veterinary Dental Technicians and the Virginia Association of Veterinary Technicians. She loves performing hands-on treatments such as wound treatments and placing catheters. Crystal also loves to educate clients on how to properly care for their furry friends. Crystal and her husband Brian enjoy watching their 4 children's sports events and school activities. Crystal is a Persian kitty lover! She is also a mother to a golden retriever named Dixie Mae, and a guinea pig named Harold. Their cats Holly and Pixie round out the family. If she has spare time, she enjoys going to the beach and jet skiing.
Ashley is a 2008 graduate of James Madison University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She continued her education at San Juan College and graduated as a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2014. She is a member of the Virginia Association of Licensed Veterinary Technicians.
A Pennsylvania native, Ashley moved to VA Beach with her family in 2000 and has called Hampton Roads home ever since. Animals have always been Ashley’s first true love and so she easily found comfort being a part of the Beach Pet Hospital team. She is the proud momma of Simcoe, a very handsome beagle and auntie to Gus Gus and Wednesday. When not loving on the animals in her life Ashley can be found enjoying what the local food and craft beer scene has to offer. She is also an avid football fan and can be found cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers every week during the season.
Kindra started working at Beach Pet Hospital as a Veterinary Assistant in October 2011 and received her Associate of Science degree from Tidewater Community College in 2012. She graduated from San Juan College in 2017 has been a practicing Licensed Veterinary Technician for 2 years. When she is not saving lives at Beach Pet Hospital, Kindra rescues and rehomes dogs in need through Hearts for Hounds, the dog rescue organization she founded. Kindra enjoys baking gluten-free goodies and crocheting soft warm hats and scarves. Kindra is one of our most talented animal handlers here, and can turn almost any grumpy cat or K9 into a happy kitty or pup!
Melissa graduated from Blue Ridge Community College in May of 2003 with an Associate’s of Applied Science. She has been a Licensed Veterinary Technician here at Beach Pet Hospital for 13 years, and critical care cases are her favorite. Melissa thrives on emergency cases, and takes pride in her speed to induce emergency drugs under the command of her doctor, and save animals in life-threatening conditions. She has 1 dog, 1 blind cat, 2 potbelly pigs, 12 chickens, and 2 guinea pigs. Her hobbies include gardening with her husband and children, rescuing animals, and fishing. Melissa is very humble so you will never hear her brag, but we know that her tomato pie is the best in town!
Kyanne started in the veterinary field in 2014 as a kennel assistant while in high school. She then went on to attend Muscatine Community College in Iowa to obtain her Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology. After moving to Virginia Beach in June of 2018, she became a Licensed Veterinary Technician the following December. When asked what her favorite part about being an LVT is, she replies “I love the variety of patients we see and every day is so different! I am always learning new things and improving my skills as a Technician”. Kyanne has 3 cats whose names are Jax, Leo, and Trip. Trip was a recent rescue who was found with an injured leg. Unfortunately, Trip’s leg could not be repaired and it had to be removed. Thanks to an exceptional surgeon, Dr. Laurence, and a caring cat mom, Trip has recovered beautifully! When not snuggling her kitties, Kyanne can be found sunbathing at the beach during the summer or supporting the Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Bulldogs during football season.
Kendra graduated from Richlands High School in Richlands, North Carolina in 2006. She then went on to Windward Community College, in Hawaii, and graduated with their Veterinary Technician program in 2019. Her favorite part about working for Beach Pet is seeing the variety of species that come through our hospital. She has 1 Cavalier King Charles pup who loves to hunt flies and take naps. Kendra owned her own photography business for 8 years, and still enjoys taking photos of her 2 children. She also loves to shop at hobby lobby and participate in arts and crafts activities with her daughter. An interesting fact about Kendra is she played cello for 20 years. She was a part of her community orchestra for a few years, and now her daughter is following in her musically talented footsteps. Also, Kendra has been a foster mom to over 20 cats and 10 dogs, wow!
